In Him
"That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us." John 17:21
In Him...
Creation's groan and redemption's tale unfurl,
In Him, the axis on which turns the world.
In Him...
Scholar's wisdom and mystic's love unite,
In Him, the mind and heart take flight.
In Him...
Prophet's gaze and historian's hand embrace,
In Him, all time and space find place.
In Him...
Law's demand and gospel's mercy set,
In Him, justice and grace forever met.
In Him...
Psalmist's song with warrior's strength comply,
In Him, both melody and might ally.
In Him...
Shepherd's care and wanderer's cry convene,
In Him, the lost and found are seen.
In Him...
Sinner's cry and saintly joy combine,
In Him, sorrow and happiness intertwine.
In Him...
Guilty's shame and Justifier's nod reconcile,
In Him, forgiveness spans the mile.
In Him...
Cross's agony and believer's pardon meet,
In Him, justice and mercy take a seat.
In Him...
Elder's wisdom with youth's fervor blend,
In Him, life's beginning and its end.
In Him...
In Him, Alpha's claim and Omega's history bind,
In Him, first and last, in perfect love we find.
In Him...
the Way, the Truth, the Life resound,
In Him, where sin abounds, yet grace much more is found.
In Him...
world's dread Judge and yet the sinner's Friend,
In Him, the story starts, and in Him, never ends.
