Though Peter, James, and beloved John have all gone on to live in His glory, we who remain can still behold it.
Behold the glory of our Prophet. Who imparts wisdom as Jesus does? Not Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, nor the greatest “living lords” of philosophy can compare. It is Jesus who reveals to me the darkness of my sin, and then unfurls before me the glorious light of His free salvation. He speaks to my soul of the truth of God, the abounding love of God, and His tender sovereign care. He exposes the untapped potential within my soul, the sins I must battle in my life, and the abundant treasure of my hope to come. His words are marvelous marvels unto themselves.
Behold the glory of our Priest. Jesus proffered Himself as the one sacrifice for the sin of transgression. Not only His blessed body but also His spotless Soul, upon the altar of justice, being at the same time, Victor and the Victim, Altar and Sacrifice, High Priest and Lamb. There, He purchased our redemption. Now, He sits as the believer's Advocate before the Father, presenting His own fulfillment of every law. The Father is invariably swayed by the love of the Lover. He cannot deny Him. How glorious to have such a High Priest!
Behold the glory of our King. He holds sway within the depths of my soul. And if both Cain and Abel dwell within, He makes the older serve the younger, and the old man is banished from my heart's keep. My soul is His microcosmos. Though He, the Sovereign Ruler of the skies, He's also the Sovereign of my heart. He reigns over my all, all my circumstances, all my events, all for my benefit. He accomplishes in me and on my behalf His own divine purpose. There exists no King more potent than the Potentate, Jesus Christ.
I bear witness to His glory, the glory as of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
